A good way to start the week.. The good folks at Caught By The River in association with Heavenly Recordings are streaming a new remix of Birds Flew Backwards. The remix was done by Chris Watson, one of the founder members of Cabaret Voltaire, now famed wildlife sound recordist. Do check out his website, he’s done some pretty amazing stuff.
Also announced today at Caught By The River, is the second Birdsongs compilation. This time the compilation has been put together by Jimi Goodwin! To get the download, you must sign up with your email address at the site. The download will be sent out to members on Wednesday. So if you are not signed up, do so now! Artwork for the compilation has been done by Matt Sewell, which features a Robin as requested by Jimi.
Also whilst your at Caught By The River, check out the Happy Mondays post featuring some good Factory Records video footage. Great stuff!
Well not quite, but you may recall last year doves teamed up with the Creation le mans racing team. Cheers to doves #1 fan for the heads up regarding the picture above. Check back on Monday for news of a new doves remix and a Compilation put together by Jimi.
Until then, why not check out the new song from Broken Social Scene! Just released at their website as a free download, World Sick is a pretty special tune. They are big fans of doves too, really nice guys. Great to have them back.
Thanks to Alan, for sending the link for this interview Aeroplane did, wich has a wee mention of Brazil, which apparently doves didn’t like..
The Doves remix they were kind of upset because there was a really cool guitar that was doing the whole track. We never even tought about keeping the guitar we just skipped to vocal. At the end the remix was completely different than original. That is not what they expected at all.But that is what makes us exciting about remixing
Otherwise, not too much going on in doves world. Tickets for the Ritz Dyslexia Awareness benefit gig are now only a fiver. See the new flyer on the right for details. I have got a couple goodies lined up for tomorrow.
Winter Hill b-side Brazil has been given the remix treatment by Aeroplane. Promo CD-Rs have been sent out to DJs, along with a press sheet stating the track will be released digitally December 7th. More as I have it.
The single will be available digitally in the UK on Monday. You can pre-order the 7″ single here, which features the exclusive track Brazil. The single will also be available digitally in North America on Tuesday.
You can pre-order the special remix 12″ releases at Piccadilly Records. These special 12″ vinyls should cost you around £5.49 each. Only 500 copies of these are being pressed, so get them before they go.
Here’s a picture of the new promo that’s now doing the rounds on ebay. Its expected some of these remixes, if not all will be featured on the Winter Hill single, released July 20th.
You can check out the jackbeadle remix of Jetstream at his myspace page here. We like it!
Producer Richard Norris (a.k.a. The Time And Space Machine) has posted a clip from his remix of Doves’ ‘Jetstream’ on his MySpace page: www.myspace.com/thetimeandspacemachine
His MySpace blog also claims that the song will be the third single released from the Kingdom Of Rust album.
The Time and Space Machine mix of Doves’ “Jetstream” is now up on the player. It is currently being promo’ed by Heavenly/Virgin.
“Jetstream” is set to become the third single from Doves album “Kingdom Of Rust”.
In a recent widely-syndicated interview, DJ Sasha has revealed that he has just “remixed the Doves single.”
No further information has been given to confirm if the single in question is the forthcoming ‘Winter Hill’ or a third single release from the Kingdom Of Rust album.
